Hi everyone,

I am using the Image Gallery module: gallery_v1.9e.

I have made some customisations to this module and it suits my needs perfectly (well almost).

I have a small problem, the main images created for the gallery and labelled  main1.jpg main2.jpg etc are very heavily compressed jpegs.

My clients are photographers and therefore heavily compressing their images is not an option. I have searched the forums and the source file save_image.php and I cannot find where the compression level for the created jpegs is set. Ideally I would like the created jpegs not to be compressed at all from the original uploaded files. The clients are capable of resizing their own images and saving photoshop to a reasonable size. Eg. 50kb. However for my gallery I am finding the final images are compressed down to approx 20kb and have serious visible artifacting. They seem to be compressed to this size regardless of the starting file size.

Can anyone direct me to where I should change the code to prevent this over compression when the "main" jpeg images are created for use in the gallery?

Thanks in advance.

Nicole

*BUMP*

I need this info as well! Does anyone know how to alter the compression ratio in the Gallery module?

Apart from the compression ratio of the images, I would like to know how to set the default choice for the size settings. Now it is resize by both width and height, but I need the default choice to be resize by width only. See image.

I tried myself of course, but it is not as simple as I thought. I spent hours trying, but to no avail. So if you have a solution, please verify that it works yourself. Because in theory it's easy, but somehow it is more difficult than it seems. At least for a non-coder like myself  cry
