Presenting a new module using a slightly different approach than most other modules. The Portfolio module. The portfolio module actually exists of 2 modules (page types). - A catalog module with configuration settings
- A Details module with the content to display.
A portfolio is best demonstrated by showing, so I made a special website for the modules. You can view and download the modules there, and read about the options in the help pages. http://portfolio.allwww.nlWith many thanks to Argos for sponsoring, brainstorming and testing the module.Enjoy the module.. Ruud

very nice that there is a possibility to add fields trough the admin, I hope this technique wil be used in more new modules.
Ofcourse one thumb is enough but it would be nice if there is a possibillity to add some extra 'big' pictures so that you can show for instance 3 different samples per portfolio item.
Is it possible to have the slideshow in a different section?

I hope to bring a "standard" WYSIWYG module soon the uses the same field adding & template trick. I am just looking for a better way to create the dynamic list of fields. Now there is no error checking on invalid names or fieldnames used more than once. Multiple images is on my own wish list too. Just thinking how to store the fact that they exist and how many there should be. You now think 3 is enough, the next one rather wants 5 or 10. It is not possible to use different sections. I did a quick check by adding two catalogs on one page, one outputting the carousel, the other only the detaiils. It didn't work. I will put it on my nice to have list Ruud

Great idea! Can you use video instead of images? I would like to have a portfolio of my videos in this kind of presentation.

The video used as the thumbnail/zooming_image is not possible. Images upload will not accept non-images, and the resizer routines will crash on video. You could add the video in the WYSIWYG area, or include a video in a User Defined Field, using a Droplet. There is a Droplet in the AMASP site that allows you to include a youtube video. This could be added in a U.D.Field and positioned using the portfolio-template. Ruud

Hello,
I installed both modules succesfully. But I get an error in the database when I try to save a new catalogpage. This is the message I get:
You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'fields = '', template = '
Unfortunetly, I'm not a programmer and don't know what to do to solve this. Any ideas?
Regards,
Gerard

It is difficult to see what happened without some more info.
Does this happen when you use the default fields (empty) and template? It looks (seeing the error) that there is something invalid in the template data.

Hi Ruud, Yes, this happens with the default fields. I never change values if I don't know what happens so I installed the modules and made a new page and saved it. My plan was to change values one by one to see what happens. I usually do so. (Trial and error works good to me, most of the time ) I guess I have to make own fields in the template? Regards, Gerard

Very strange, The save.php has nothing special in it, no tricks or something.
Is what you told in your first post the complete error message?
The error is about the "template" data. Could you try to set the template to "Hello world" (nothing more) and see if it will save that?

Hi Ruud,
Thank you for your answer. I appreciate. I think I don't know a template "Hello world". I searched but found no template. I tried the "css only" template but the same error occured. I wonder: is there some code I've to add to my template wich I forgot to add, or do I add some entries to the database!? In other words: is special action needed after installing the modules?
Regards,
Geeard

No, you misunderstood me In the portfolio page there is a part called template: In there is a lot of HTML that, if it is changed to something else, might cause problems. So, remove all the HTML in there and just type "Hello World" (or "test") and see if the page can be saved. Ruud

Hi Ruud, Sorry for misunderstanding. I did not change it before but I replaced the html as you suggested but I still get an error: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'fields = '', template = 'Hello world' WHERE section_id = '138'' at After "at" no text appears. So it refers to a template but I don't have a template with that name!? After seeing the error I return to the page in the backend and the html is restored to its initial value as you showed in the previous posting. I appreciate your concern But do'nt go to bed too late. I do go now because I've to work early Regards and sleep well. Gerard

I was wondering if someone could tell me how I wrap text around the image shown below instead of under it in the portfolio catelog page. I tried this <tr><td width="275" class="pf_image" align="left">{IMAGE}</td></tr> and this: <tr><td width="275" align="left" cellpadding="5" cellspacing="0" class="pf_image">{IMAGE}</td></tr> but that didn't work. and the code: <table class="pf_t_carousel"> <tr><td class="pf_carousell">{CAROUSEL}</td></tr> </table> <table class="pf_t_data"> <tr><td width="275" class="pf_image">{IMAGE}</td> <td class="pf_extra"> <tr><td>{INFORMATION}</td></tr> </table> </td> </tr> <tr><td colspan=2 class="pf_wysiwyg">{WYSIWYG}</td></tr> </table>

Try to remove the second row <tr></tr> in the table near {INFORMATION}. The column will jump to the richtside of the image. Then play with the sizes. <table class="pf_t_carousel"> <tr><td class="pf_carousell">{CAROUSEL}</td></tr> </table> <table class="pf_t_data"> <tr><td width="275" class="pf_image">{IMAGE}</td> <td class="pf_extra"> <td>{INFORMATION}</td> </table> </td> </tr> <tr><td colspan=2 class="pf_wysiwyg">{WYSIWYG}</td></tr> </table> Hope it helps. Regard, Gerard
