I have chosen to look at other CMSs for a number of reasons:

  • I am planning to use a php framework (Codeignitor) to build all my web applications, have have found several cms that are built using this framework
  • It appears to me that continued development of WebsiteBaker has stalled
  • There are several features missing in WSB that I seek for my own projects and I do not wish to spend all my time writing addition modules when I can use a CMS that already has them
  • I have had some problems with installation and performance of WSB on my local server.  I have sought aid through forms but have yet to receive any

Despite all this I still do believe that this CMS has great potential it is still the simplest to use CMS I have found.  I will continue to monitor its progress and if/when a version is out that meets my needs I will most definitely test it out.

This decision was not meant to be mean spirited I just don't intend to spend and development time on anything for on CMS if I end up moving to another.  I know AdBaker is a pretty popular module so I just wanted to make everyone aware of the situation.

Hi Mike,

I feel sorry that you will leave WB, and I hope that you will come back some day..

Also, could you please attach your latest version of AdBaker here, in case someone wish to continue its development ?

cheers
Ivan

Anyway, the issues you do have are related to the serversetup, specifically the Permission setup. It sounds as if the webserver does not recieve the rights required to modify those uploaded files. With the FTP Upload it is similar, the FTP Useraccount is not allowed to change. It might be related to the umask (Unix fetaure) setup on the webserver.

You could try the add-on file editor (unfortunatley unmaintained) or a WebFTP Programm installed on your Webserver / Webspace. Or you could manually write the changes into your Template CSS and re- upload and install the template ...

Hi Klaus et all,

I have edited the frontend.css file and re-uploaded via (Filezilla) FTP repeatedly but no change in the css takes effect. I have full permissions an there are no upload/FTP errors. The ads are in plain text when displayed and no styles (even on margins etc.) takes effect.

Any further clues?

Seanie.
