Hey Ho...

*******************************************************

Sorry for this German post, but my English is so bad, that I don´t want to use it to explain all that stuff... Maybe a short English version...

Two Problems:

1. Searchfuncton of WebsiteBaker don´t list the ads and descs.
2. Display the last ads on another page (in websitebaker) with a droplet or an modul...

Work is progressing with AdBaker version 2.0  It will support search and I do plan on whipping up some droplets that will allow you ot show featured ads in different places on your site.  Be patient and stay tuned.

Hey,

Great to hear that... Maybe you got a timeline?!?!

And hands up for that module. With the combination of the module userextend it`s really great.

hmmm... now I got a problem with the cm.modify_add.php. When I want to modify an own add, there are only the categories and not the subcategories as a dropdown. When I change the categorie, the modul changes to the add.php with a blank formular. The same problem in the backend...

What did I wrong?

Sounds like an error in the code I'll look into to and release an update if need be.  Thanks for the heads up.

Hi Michael,

In case no one else has asked already, can you please change...

.WB_URL.'/admin

to

.ADMIN_URL.'/

Not everyone uses /admin/ as their admin folder, and the constant ADMIN_URL already has the path to the admin folder defined.

Thanks

Is that bux fixed already? And are the features to show the last adds at any other side and the search function ready? I am looking every day for that features...  shocked

Sorry I have been very busy with other commitments and have not had time to look in to this.  I will try and get a fix for this this week.

As for the new version of adbaker, work is progressing and I should have something for testing shortly.  though a release version is till a ways off.

about 3/4 to having something to try and test.  I was further along but scrapped it and started again as the code was getting jumbled and inefficient like version 1 is.  Once I have something to show off I'll start posting some screen grabs code to test.

Would anyone be interested in trying out a very very early version of adBaker 2?  So far all it does is display the ads and let you view the full version of the ad.  There is also a new categories page and a new adBaker menu.  It is not set up to install into WebsiteBaker yet but i can write an quick setup file to make a database and populate the tables with some info for testing.  You can also get a taste for the templating I have worked into adBaker as well.

I won't port in into WebsiteBaker until it's closer to completion.  I's very rough right now but shows promise.  As always advice, critique and suggestions are welcome.

Since this is taking longer than I planned I am thinking of tweaking version 1 to fix those few bugs and add a couple suggestions that are easy to implement.  Let me know if this is something that is wanted and I shall do so.

Just a quick update.  I decided to start getting the database tables and install.php file in-line with what is needed for WebsiteBaker.  As a result no-code is ready to try out.  I'll have something hopefully tonight assuming I iron everything out.

First trial code for AdBaker2 is up at the google code (http://code.google.com/p/adbaker).  Again very early but give it a try and let me know what you think.  Post comments/issues on the google code project page as well as here please.

Features and install instruction etc now available at the project wiki page found here -> http://code.google.com/p/adbaker/w/list

It would be good if it had a proper WB module installation setup?

The installation is coming shortly. If it's something you want urgently then I'll get on that.  Just keep in mind there will be no back end features, as I want to get the front end working before attacking the back end.  Having said that the back end should be quick the get together.

Couple questions for the users of this module...

1) Do you use always use subcategories?  The reason I ask is that I am thinking of making it so only categories that contain categories will be available to pick when posting a new ad ads to new it doesn't make sense to place ads under a main category.

2) How important/wanted would it be to have locations (country/city) for the ads?

Thanks for the input...

Hi,

under my opinion it is is not good to place add under main category.

also, it is good to put cities/countries for later filtered search..

cheers

Ok I'll make the category change as I agree that placing ads under the parent categories is not a good idea.

I changed to poll in this thread to gauge if people want locations.

Working on the locations and category changes.  Will have installable version hopefully sooner.  (Fingers Crossed). It should even have some nice ajaxy features. grin

Does anyone know where I can get a list of countries cities and sates etc that I can easily turn into a MySQL query.  Typing all that info is no looking to be much fun.

Just a quick update.  I have a version that installs in to WB, just need to clean some code up (links etc) and I'll post it on the Google code site.

I am also unhappy with the way things are laid out.  if anyone has some ideas or wants to contribute some layouts for AdBaker it would be greatly appreciated.  Just PM me.
