I've broken the News module and how do I fix it?

Hello Bakers!

The News module...

...and a great one at that but,

Whilst trying to change the English language text into French with the add-ons editor, I have broken the News module (WB2.7). Whilst it still functions ok, I have inadvertently deleted some of the user-prompts which makes it difficult to navigate.   

My particular News module page (a blog) is still in development, so no issues there with lost data-entry, et cetera. But, I have made many other language and CSS mods to other pages which are looking great, and which I want to retain.   

So my question is... How do I refresh just that particular News module and load the default News module without affecting any other modules (and their corresponding CSS) in my installation?

1) Do I use the admin reload add-ons function? And will that effect my other modules' appearance and content?
2) Do I FTP and overwrite the News module from a fresh installation? If so, do I uninstall the existing "bad" News module first?
3) I made a WB backup "all-tables" this morning, so do I restore from that? I'm not sure exactly what data "Backup all tables in database" actually includes when it is restored because I have never tried it.

Any suggestions to fix JUST the News module and return it to a fresh install state will be most welcome.   

[Perhaps my question might equally apply to repairing ANY of the default modules included in a 2.7 installation?]

Incidentally, I could not find the file location of  the News module hyperlinks: "Back" and "Last Changed" to translate them into French. Any ideas where to look? Also, I noted that a calendar was called from a javascript somewhere but I couldn't find it to change the word "Feb" into "Fev" etc, so that needs sorting if I can find it!

1.) I would overwrite all files from the news modul with the original ones from the WB package.
2.) then simply create a new news page. you will then see in the settings of the news page the default values, wich you can copy and paste to your existing news pages.

After done this, all your existing pages should work again. If thi is the case you can delete the page created in step 2.

The news modul in WB 2.7 is not fully multilingual. Some translations are in the core language file, some are in the modul language file and some are hardcoded in the news settings. This is fixed in the news modul of WB 2.8. There you then will find all language variables of the news modul in the language file of the news modul.

A big thank you. 

That fixed the 2.7 news module without losing any of the existing pages or data.

I look forward to the language mods in the 2.8 News module.
