SlideShow2 Gallery with Lightbox and Albums

Hi to everyone,
First of all I 'd like to congratulate everyone participating in this project.
I find WebsiteBaker one of the easiest and user friendly CMSs and also very well written and easy to develop.
I see some things that I don;t like though and are easy to fix.
So I started fixing things and will post most of them in time.
I first noticed that none of the available gallery modules are not beautifull enough with some nice effects or something.
The nicest I found was smoothgallery but it is missing the abillity to show albums from subdirectories.
The other galleries also miss this abillity. They just display images and not albums.
I saw the joomgallery from joomla project and thought I could use the existing modules to create something nice. I wasn't hoping to spend 5 days on it but It kind of demanded the time as the ideas came one after another.
So I made a slideshow2 gallery module using slideshow2 and motools from
http://www.electricprism.com/aeron/slideshow
and I added all the code necessary for the albums.
I called it Slideshow2 Gallery and what it does is:
- Has general title and description
- Uses slideshow2 effects (configurable through the panel) and lightbox to display images from a directory of your choice.
- If you choose it looks for subdirectories with images, creates thumbnails for each one and displays pagination.
- If it finds images and folders in a directory it displays both gallery plus albums.
- It uses the folder/file name to display captions and titles.
- You can set the size of the gallery, the album thumbnails, ,max thumbnails per page, columns number, custom pagination, can display the gallery thumbnails vertically and many many more.
- You can Use titles, descriptions and captions on your subdirectories and files by adding exif data on the images ( You can do that easily with right click->Properties->Summary on windows. Use fields "Tittle for images and Subject, Comments on the Directory's first Image".)
I would like to thank the authors for lightbox, slideshow2, smoothgallery, mootools and WebsiteBaker for the code I used.
I haven't finished importing all the settings in the baker system panel, and there are thoughts of many improvements like finding a way to add descriptions to every album somwhow but I will do this in time.
Installation:
You install it as a module, configure the options and choose a folder with pictures and subfolders from the media folder.

Hello,
you asked for testing
here the first results:
1.) Modul is wrong zipped. Please only zip the files within the modul and not the modul folder
2.) Setting Error Reporting to E_ALL (wich is recommanded for modul developpers) brings a lot of undefined index notices. This should be fixed
3.) At least i don't get any image displayed so i stopped testing and wait till a fixed version.

Ok Matthias thanks.
I have hardcoded a lot of options and I have not used defaults.
Unless you first go to the panel and save the settings you wont get a picture.
You can have a look of it here
http://www.lxdesign.gr/index/gr/ergasies.php
I will fix all these in a few days.
Thanks again.

Thats cool.
Nice addition to the Addons List once everything goes fine.
I mostly like the multi folder functionality.
Happy Baking,

I have the options page ready so you can now see all available choises.
I still have to add a "clear cache" button and put the descriptions in the language file and repair some "Notices".
After that I am going to:
- Add an interface so you can add a title and a description on every folder/file instead of showing their filenames.
- Add some code so you can use "_" in the filenames instead of spaces.
Coming soon...

Ok everything is setup.
- I 've added Clear cache, repaired all notices and bugs I found, and added default values.
- I 've also setup the language file.
I will now :
- Add description fields to at least 10 or 20 directories of the first page so you can add descriptions to the albums of the first page. It makes no sence making an interface of infinate descriptions because the navigation is difficult. You can create different pages in sublevels and add new galleries there if you want to add descriptions all the time.
- Make an option to read iptc data from all images and store keywords, titles, etc for searching. You can easilly add iptc data to everyphoto simple by using the file properties of an image in windows explorer.
- Create a search page that will display results found in a gallery. That way you can see a show containing only one person's fotos etc..
Cheers.

HI!
Fine Module and good effects (zb. kenburns...) works in firefox, ie7 and chrome. All options working fine - great!
a few questions:
- whole code (.js) is in Body -> how can i change this? (frontend.js ...?!)
- for example: i just want a pan effect (i tried to modify the view and modify.php and make changes to kenburns)
I´ve too say that I´m no programmer and I just learn with try and error (mostly error
). So I really don´t konw what I´m doing...
Good Work!

Hi,
Thank you very much.
Well about the js file being included you shouldn't need to change anything in it.
I have to fix this myself. I use a php variable inside the .js file so if I use it in a seperate .js file it will not work.
I thought of another way of doing this so I fixed this already.
download the module again. changed files are view.php and slideshow.js
The zoom and pan effects are at the last lines of view.php file where the myShow object is defined
Code:
myShow = new <? echo $slide; ?>('
<?php
echo
$div_name ?>
', data, { controller: <? echo $options['showArrows'] ?>, captions: <? echo $options['showInfopane'] ?>, resize: <? echo $options['x-useResizer'] ?>, overlap: false, height:
<?php
echo
$h ?>
, hu: '<?echo $curpath ?>', classes: ['', '', '', '', '', '', '', '', '', '', '<? if ($options['vertical'] == 'true') echo 'alternate-thumbnails'; ?>'], thumbnails: <? echo $options['showCarousel'] ?>, width:
<?php
echo
$w ?>
, delay: <? echo $options['delay']; ?> , duration: <?echo $options['fadeDuration'] ?>, color: ['#EC2415', '#7EBBFF'], <? if ($slide == 'Slideshow.KernBurns') { ?> zoom: 15, pan: 0, <? } ?> linked: <? echo $options['embedLinks'] ?>, transition: 'back:in:out' });
zoom and pan only work on kenburns as I 've put it.
I should add an option for them in baker.
Cheers,
LS

TOP!
I think this would be the best gallery to present landscapes, architecture (rooms, buildings vertical and horizontal) if there is just a pan effect or a zoom effect (beside kenburns). the pano gallery is a good way to show panoramas
Yes and i think i will change nothing, because everything i´ve tried i didnt see anything
- no gallery.
When you change somerhing -> it would be nice to set versionnumbers - i´ve downloaded this one in the first post.
In the code you´ve post it there is "zoom: 15, pan:0" - if i put other values in it, there has nothing changed - should it?
best regaards and thanks for working on this new gallery modul

hmm, well I have to change the version number each time you 're right.
The zoom and pan values you change will only work in the kenburns show.
So unless you set the effect on kenburns those values would not be used.
I didn't have enough time today to add available slideshow settings on the baker backend but I will do so at the next version!
As I said I will also create a search form that will search and display results as a single slideshow2 gallery and I am also thinking of adding keywords and descriptions through iptc data on the photos.
The zip that you can download from the link above is always the latest.
If you are in a hurry and can;t wait to test it you can replace the code
Code:
<? if ($slide == 'Slideshow.KernBurns') { ?> zoom: 15, pan: 0, <? } ?>
with code
Code:
, zoom: 15, pan: 15,
so the zoom and pan values will work on every gallery.
I 've also already fixed the javascript import problem.

i put al link here, there you can have a look for the problems:
what does the "Max Album Thumbs/Page" and the "Album Thumb Number of Columns" means that option doesent change anything.

Dear Dirk,
You should choose Auto start slideshow true!
Well It's all a problem of the layout. You see the gallery creates a table and put's a div tag inside for the gallery.
You should put the gallery on it's own div with specific width and height and give it some space below for the thumbnail pictures to show right. Or put it inside a new table width specific width.
Look here
http://lxdesign.gr/index/gr/ergasies.php
The other 2 options are for the subdirectory thumbnails. So you can choose how many subdirectory thumbs to show per page and how many columns of subdirectory thumbs per page.
I will try to define the width and height of the gallery better so you don;'t have to do it in your code in the next version.

Well, you have defined a wider gallery than the space you have.
You have to set the gallery size smaller, lets say at 550px instead of 600 you have right now and see how it looks.
It should come in the top between the texts. Portrait pics will automatically resize.

There is an option to the gallery that says resize images if bigger.
Do you have it True?
You can put some
Code:
<br /><br />
on start of the text to take it a little below the thubnails.

Yeap, I 've sent mail to Aeron, the writer of the slideshow2 effects.
It looks that this gallery is not supposed to resize pictures in some effects but rather to pan and zoom so it shows the whole image by parts. If you take out the zoom and pan effect it resizes the image right only when is landscape.
The only available option is "resize: 'length'" so I guess it will resize correctly only if the length is bigger than height.
I 've updated my module and is ready to redownload, having a lot of fixes in the output table and also fixes for the zoom/pan and resize options.
I 've asked for a solution for this, we shall wait and see what the Author says.
Cheers,
LS

Problem with resizing of pictures solved.
I updated the version. All images are now resized if you choose the resizing option portrait or landscape.
They will fit in the desired frame exactly.
