Hi all,

I'm out of options....
I'm using WB2.7, and everything works flawless, exept for one thing.
As soon as I create a sub-category and check this page it gives me a 404 error.
No matter what I try, it keeps giving me this error.

When looking at the structure on the server I see that WB creates a new folder for the sub pages, but the page itself is not created within this new folder.
Somehow, inside the admin, I can change the page, and it's saved correct.
But when I go back to the site, it gives me the darn 404 error again.

Anyone a Solution??
Big thanks in advance for the one who can help me out on this one.

Cheers,
Joop

Permissions ... I bet you on it ... check the permissions on the newly created folders. I also bet, that inside the files are:

1) Not created
or
2) not webserver accessible

Hey klaus,

Yeah, I should also put my money on a permission problem...but it's not as far as I can see.
The folder got a 777 permission.
I've just deleted the created folder, and put a new folder with the same name in place via FTP.
Now it saves the sub-page in the sub-folder but....now i get a 500 Internal server error....
Any more ideas for me?

Thanks in advance,
Joop

Clearly something with server configuration ... which user is the owner of the newly created files and folders?

Eeemmm, thats' a question I don't know the answer of.
I created the files on the server, but I don't know who the owner is.
Is there any way to find out?

edit: Forgot to mention, but I got a lot of other websites (wich are powered bij WB) on the same host.
All those sites are working flawless.

Greetz,
Joop

There are several means to find out:

1) via shell - ls -l
2) via FTP Client - depends on the client, usually with a rightclick on the file choosing permissions or propperties

If you manually created the folder via your FTP client the files / folders are owned by the ftp-user currently logged in. Depending on the rights, the www-user is not allowed to write.

If other sites on the same server work fine, check the configuration of that webspace ... there has to be a difference in comparison to the other ones!

cheers

Maybe the 777 is the actual problem. Some servers have additional security software installed which might have the aim to help, but sometimes makes problems worse. This software looks out for files and folders with too high permissions (like 777, e.g.) and blocks them to avoid unauthorized exploitations. Try 755.
