Hello,

just released v0.60 of the Addon File Editor on the WebsiteBaker Addons repository.

This version includes an experimental implementation of the Pixlr Photo Editor API which allows you to edit images online. To test this new feature, one needs to enable the Pixlr support in the config.inc.php file of the Addon File Editor by setting $pixlr_support = true. Once Pixlr support is enabled, images are opened in Pixlr instead a new browser window.

How does this feature work?
1. Enable Pixlr support in the config.inc.php of the Addon File Editor
2. Open Addon File Editor and click on an image name
3. The image is automatically transferred to the online service Pixlr
4. Edit the image in Pixlr (requires browser with Flash plugin)
5. Press the Save button in Pixlr
6. The modified imgage will be stored on your server and renamed into xxx_pixlr.jpg

Details about this experimental feature can be found in section D of the README file.

Have fun
Christian

P.S.: To get this feature working, one needs to install the Adobe Flash Plugin for your browser.

Hi,

hhm, seems no one is really interested in this feature, so I think I will remove it with the next release.

Please do a short survey (poll) on this before removing.
It's kind of interesting what people vote for.
Not anyone will "write" something, but to make a "voice" is something different.

I use it quite often so please: keep it!
BTW: In Addons downloaded 1939 times, maybe Erpe can see how often it is downloaded from AMASP
A poll seems a good idea.

Hi,

@Hans:

What are you using quite often? The Addon File Editor itself, or the experimental feature of editing images?
For sure I will keep the "Addon File Editor" up, I am only talking about this experimental feature for images introduced in version 0.60.

BTW: In Addons downloaded 1939 times, maybe Erpe can see how often it is downloaded from AMASP
All my modules listed on AMASP are pointing to the WB Addons Repository for download, so I do not need to update two resources. Therefore the downloads listed on the Addons Repository are the "real" downloads, nothing to cummulate.

Well I do not like polls. It should not be that hard to post a single line in this thread to give feedback if such a feature is usefull, overkill or ... Such a statement takes less than half a minute is by far more flexible than a simple poll.

Hi Christian,

nice addition ... I can see the benefits, but I would have more expected vizmotion to pick this (or something similar) up in his Templatemodifier Module together with some Image Upload functionality.

Personally I don't think lots of people will use it, since most people interested in the GFX Side of it (the designers") will use offline tools like GiMP, inkscape or photoshop.

But for users who get some access to the template modifier I imagine that they will use it.

cheers for now

Klaus

Hi,

please find attached the first release candidate of the next Addon File Editor (AFE) Version 0.80. The stable version will be released once WebsiteBaker 2.8 final is out.

Changes with respect to v0.71:
+ removed EditArea files from AFE module folder (included in WB 2.8 installation)
+ added jQuery function to toggle list of installed modules, templates and languages

Tested with FF 3.5.1 and IE 8 on Win XP SP3.

Installation:
Delete previous versions, then install the latest version via the WB backend. You will find the tool in the Admin-Tools section in the WB backend. Delete your browser cache and sessions if you experience problems with CSS.

Addon File Editor v0.80 with WB 2.7:
Syntax highlighting will not work with a WebsiteBaker 2.7 default installation. To get syntax highlighting of the editor working with WB 2.7, follow the two steps below.

  • copy /include/editarea folder from a WB 2.8 installation package to the /include folder of your installation
  • rename file /modules/addon_file_editor/backend_legacy.js into backend.js

This should do the trick. However, the jQuery functions implemented in AFE 0,80 will not work with WB 2.7.

Requirements:
+ WB 2.8 RC2 (or latest SVN version) for full functionallity
+ minimum requirements WB 2.7 (some functions will not work)
+ Requires PHP 4.3.11 or higher

As usual, your feddback, suggestions etc. are welcome.

Doc

[Note: File removed as RC2 is available for testing]

Hi Doc,

I love this beautiful module!
I just installed the latest version on WB 2.8 RC1. Could it be that the jquery toggle is not working on WB 2.8 RC1?
Or have I done something wrong? I cleared the cache.

Hello,

addon-file-editor requires WB2.8RC2 wich will be released tomorrow grin. One difference between WB2.8RC1 and WB2.8RC2 is the javascript handling in the WB backend. Addon-File-Editor already needs the advanced function from WB2.8RC2.

A current version from trunk can be downloaded here.

Hi,

uups, sorry for the inconvenience guys.

Matthias is right. Adon File Editor 0.80 requires WB 2.8 RC2 or the latest version from SVN. So please test with the latest version from SVN or wait some days till WB 2.8 RC2 get´s released.

Note:
If you are using WB 2.8 RC1, you can try to rename the file backend_body.js of the Addon File Editor into backend.js. The jQuery function should work than. If it does not work for you, you should wait for WB 2.8 RC2.

Doc

P.S.: Matthias thanks for your hint, have changed the minimum requirements in my initial post accordingly.

Hi Doc,

Now the jquery toggle works with WB 2.8 RC2.
But maybe it would be preferable if the mouse pointer changes to an arrow if you move the mouse over the jquery toggle?
In any case a nice module!

@Luc:
Thought the cursor style: pointer is the right style to apply to make the user aware he can click on an element.
If I am wrong, I will change the style with v0.80 stable.

Hello,

just released v0.80 stable of the Addon File Editor on the WebsiteBaker Add-ons repository.

Important:
Since "Addon File Editor v0.80", WebsiteBaker 2.8 (RC2 or higher) is required to make use of features like jQuery toggle or syntax highlighting. AFE v0.80 will work with WB 2.7, but with limited features only. To enable syntax highlighting in AFE 0.80 under WB 2.7, follow the instructions in the section Legacy mode of the Readme file. WB 2.7 users can also stay with the previous version AFE v0.71 (no longer maintained).

Whats new with respect to v0.71:
+ removed EditArea files (are part of the WB 2.8 core)
+ directory names are displayed with full sub path
+ implemented jQuery functions to toggle Add-on overview trees (modules, templates, languages)
+ added file extensions *.tmpl and *.tpl (allows to edit those files with text editor)
 + updated README file

Installation:
Delete previous versions, then install the latest version via the WB backend. You will find the tool in the Admin-Tools section in the WB backend. Delete your browser cache and sessions if you experience problems with CSS.

Requirements:
+ Requires PHP 4.3.11 or higher
+ WB 2.8 (from RC2 onwards) to use all features, or WB 2.7 (limited features, see Readme)

As usual, your feddback, suggestions etc. are welcome.

Hello,

just released v0.81 stable of the Addon File Editors (AFE).
You can download the latest version from the WB Add-ons site or from AMASP.

This version fixes a bug with a PEAR package. The bug affects PHP installations compiled with Zend Engine higher than 2-dev (error message: file PEAR5.php not found). Thanks to erpe for reporting. Apart from the bugfix, no new features were implemented.

Hi,

Addon File Editor version 0.90 stable is available from the Add-ons repository or AMASP.

New features with respect to v0.81?
+ the text edit dialogue has now two save buttons (Save, Save and back)
+ the EditArea form size is now adjustable by the user (requires Javascript enabled)

Feedback and suggestions welcome as usual.

Doc

P.S. v0.90 was originally issued as v0.82 but renamed as this was more a feature rather a bugfix release
