I set up a website that has a handful of not-so-tech-savvy users. Each of these users has a bit of a blog space where they can post various things. What I'm finding is that these users are uploading HUGE photos (2000x2000px or bigger and 2mb or more) and then are using the browser to resize them down to 300x300px when they post. Suffice to say that the download times are insane and I'm worried that the bandwidth for this site is going to be killed if their individual pages start getting reasonable traffic.

Is there a module that will allow some simple image editing when these users upload their media? Something that will allow them to crop and resize their images after they have uploaded them. I can guarantee most of these users probably don't even know what Photoshop is, so trying to get them to do any of this before uploading their images will be pretty much completely impossible.

There aren't a whole lot of users uploading images, so I'm not too worried about server load, I just need to stop them from embedding these massive images in their blogs.

Hello, there is no such module for website baker.

I have seen such a thing inside silvestripe cms - this is a really nice thing for a lot of users.
Unfortunatly the media handling in WebsiteBaker is not that sophisticated.

Take a look at Ralf's snippet "Image Optimizer"

This may help in your case.

Hi Anlina,

I'm working on implementing an image manipulation module for a client right this moment.
It will plug into the media admin section of WB and allows admins to crop and resize (large) uploaded images in a AJAX/DHTML WYSIWYG environment.

I'm intending to release it to the WB community once it's up!

Hi Aaaarco,

Yes, it will be something like that. A bit simpler though: just to edit the crop and size of images. And integrated into the existing WB media management section.

I expect to be able to contribute it to the WB community by the end of the month.
