Something's gone wrong and when I try to create or change a page what appears in the browser is:

Not Found
The requested URL /pages/authors/philip-ruthen.php was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Apache/2.0.63 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.0.63 OpenSSL/0.9.8b mod_auth_passthroug h/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 PHP/5.2.6 Server at www.waterloopressho ve.co.uk Port 80.

Does anyone have any ideas what's going wrong. Any help would be welcome. It was working fine when I made amendments last time around 1 1/2 months ago. I have tried on two different computers with the same result. I have also tried changing the page names to ensure it's not the same as elsewhere.

Many thanks
Matilda

Has your htaccess file been altered? That's where you would define 404 error file using ErrorDocument.

Also, could the 404 be resulting from not being about to save a file...in other words, a permissions problem?

Has your hosting service made configuration changes?

When you say that you've tried it on two different computers...do you mean you've installed on two different hosts?

Thanks for getting back to me.

I'm the only one who's been doing any updates on our site. I haven't done any amendments for a month and a half so can't see how any settings would have changed.

Where would I find the htaccess file? I will double check the permissions, but again they shouldn't have changed as I haven't used the tool for a while and haven't made any amendments since I initially changed the 'users', passwords etc. which is a year ago.

I am in contact with our domain host as well so I will check if they've made any configuration changes.

I've logged in on two different computers, i.e. my laptop and a friends computer. This was simply to check that there was no problem with my laptop settings (as it's new), but the result is the same.
