hi

would anybody possibly be interested in making a module for me that may or may not pose a small challenge?

basically i require a module that allows for the recording of a league with a results page and comments section. It doesnt have to be fancy and no actually entry point other than admin entiries are required..

i run a RUFC site (http://markley.co.uk/asprufc) and require the module for our team. basically i'll need an admin facility to enter the teams into, record results and commecnt on matches plus have the table display on the home page..

please ask any questions and i appreicate anyone that wishes to take this on..

hi there,

have you had any luck with your question? is that a static league table on the current site or have you found a solution already? i haven't found anything like this for WB yet.

quite similar interests than yours here, as i'm putting together a site for a sports team on spare time.

i'm looking for the possibility to have:

- teams with 0-n players
- players belonging to teams
- matches compiling from individual statistics with (optional) references to corresponding players (without player_id the statistic simply belongs to the team). ability to create custom statistics (in my case, passes and penalties) is required
- a simple solution to group matches to seasons and leagues

along these lines. the main problem is how to have the match data available without needlessly stressing the database and not needing to check for data integrity every step.

seems much more complex than what you currently require, but should meet your needs too.

unfortunately this will take some time! PM me if you're interested.

hi,

you both can look at http://www.websitebakers.com/pages/modules/listings/various/members.php

with this modul you can make members/groups/alias and with a little working with the module you can make a league.....maby Wink

Let us see if I understand you right. smiley

The module you requested shall allow you to add table lines with 3 (or 4) entries:

* the hosting team (1st column)
* the guest team (2nd column)
* the result (3rd or 3rd and 4th column)

Additionally, you want to have comments.

So, here are my questions:

* Who shall be able to comment? The admin only (so it would be an extra input field when adding the result to the table), or your visitors?
* Are you going to insert the team names as text only? Or do you wish to have drop down fields to choose from?

Have you looked at the members module mr-fan suggested?

hi webbird, thanks for the response...

i've had a few thoughts on this actually.. all i require is an idiot proof entry system where a basic user can input into individual fields (or a selection box that can be modified) to create a fixture list.

now the idea i thought which would be great would be to somehow link your booking system into the whole thing so that the upcoming fixtures for home and away games can be displayed on the calendar. so in essence:

  • define a lead team where selections can be made for home and away games
  • allow for fixtures list to be generated (manually entered or results entered style? 3points win etc)
  • show upcoming fixtures with dates/times (like your bookings calendar)
  • match comments section for ADMIN report only

thanks Smiley

Hm. Have you thought about combining the bookings module with the members module? You could use the "current quarter" view of the bookings module (upcoming events) and the members module (results) on the same page, for example.

i've tried adding the members and bookings modules together but they dont seem to work on the same page. plus from the v2b10 i still cant save the edit permissions

this is all something that really i need to sit back and have a good think about i reckon Sad

EDIT: hmmm i wonder then would it just be as easy to create a league module then?

I will test the modules together on my WB installation later.

Edit: They work fine on the same page together. As I still have no idea what the result should look like, I am not able to give a configuration example. rolleyes
