I'm also experiencing the same problem. I have it installed on W.B. 2.7 version. The install was ok. I can add a Section picker on my page, but I don't see any sections in the list. It only display "please select" and nothing else. Nothing in the list

There is a new version (v0.25) that has this problem fixed.

The fix gottfried suggested works fine.
I added some extra logic so the "current" page is also visible (but disabled) in the selection list.

The new version is available on the AMASP pages.

Could you try to uninstall the module, and do a new install afterwards?
The version checks in modules are not always correct.

If that does not work, can you tell us how the pages/sections structure of your site is made, and where in that structure the sectionpicker is?

Hi Ruud,

Good module. Actually exactly what I need.

Is there a way I can call this module in a table of 2x2.

something like:

topleft         topright
bottomleft   bottomright

Then I create four pages with similiar names, with one section (ie newsreader, WYSIWYG, etc ...).
The content of the four pages should be displayed in the four sections.

It is no problem to display them just below each other.

Any idea?

Since it is a module, the only way to do this is by using blocks in your template.
Create a (special) template for that page and ad a section picker to each of the blocks.

See "Help on using blocks"

Hi Ruud,

that is an idea.

Let's say the page is called "Begin". Do I create it in the backend as CODE page, or... how do I define it is a template and not a page?

It is not possible to call the module from within a table or div?

Thanks in advance for your advises.

Update:
Sometimes it is best leave the problem for a while and sleep a night.
This morning I thought how to assign a different template to a page. It's so easy, I never thought about it.
So, I will give it try today.

Another Update:
I've got it working.

Thanks for the tips.

Nice module, just what i needed. Was surprised when i've made a template with 2 content blocks and found that the way it worked was not what i expected.

With this module it does.

Thank you smiley

I have this probblem working with the section picker. If I make a hidden page of the news v3.5 and then use section picker to point to it, the newspage loose track of its frontend.css file. There is no problem when i wiew the actual page.
Is there anyone who have a suggestion on how I can solve this problem?

I'm working with:

  • WebsiteBaker v. 2.8.1 rev. 1287
  • Section Picker v. 0.25
  • News v. 3.5

Kindly regards to all Bakers!

Hi there,

I installed the modul sectionpicker several times on different servers and local servers - it worked very well, but now I have got one big problem!

For example: I made a website with two blocks, and for the left block the sectionpicker module is suposed to show stuff like telephonnumbers and such stuff.
But now I cant select this page with sectionpicker - and the other pages dont work with it either.
There ist just one row which tells me to select something - but I cant.

I logged in to an other server an tried it there - just worked perfectly.
I reinstalled the module about 5 times - it didnt even work after that Sad

Could somebody plx help me with that?
Maybe its something with the MYSQL-stuff ?

I absolutly dont know what to do :>

If nothing else will work... are there some other ways to create such global blocks with the newest version of wb?

There is no problem with 2.8.1 (as far as I know). I have used it in there before without problems.

All "problems" reported earlier had something to do with the structure of the pages tree.
Those problems should be solved in the last version too.
( terrajohn unfortunatly never reported if his problem was solved sad )

Can you give us a bit more detail on how it is used?

I used it just like always:

1. I made a page which is suposed to be picked up by the modul.
2  I made a WYSIWYG page and addet the section with the modul.
3  I tried to say the modul to pick up the page from 1.

But I cant selcet any page becausse ther is nothing shown- there ist only the selectionrow which tells me to select something.

I tried it with my localservers - it worked pretty good like it used to (great tool!)
Than i tried it with an other webserver - there it worked too.

It cant be the browser cache, nor could it be because of me being to stupid - i hope I could prove that more or less Wink

For me its just absolutly unclear why it doesnt work - maybe something with the server or the mysql system.

At least I solved the problem with the code-tool in which I addet the following code:

Quote
// beliebige Section ID im Backend unter Abschnitte verwalten ablesen und eintragen!
$section_id = 13;

// Datenbankabfrage für den gesuchten Abschnitt
$query_sections = $database->query("SELECT section_id,module FROM ".TABLE_PREFIX."sections WHERE section_id = '$section_id' ");

// Abfrage ob diese auch existiert und Ausgabe
if($query_sections->numRows() > 0) {
    $section = $query_sections->fetchRow();
    $section_id = $section['section_id'];
    $module = $section['module'];
    require(WB_PATH.'/modules/'.$module.'/view.php');
}

In a way it does exactly the same

It still seems to be the problem that was fixed in v0.25.
In previous versions the listbuilding would stop for the current level if a page with the section-picker module was found.

Being on page 1, that would cause the effect you are describing.
Note that upgrading did not always function well, unistall and reinstall the latest version would be best.

I have a problem:

i have created a page with News-module.
I create also a page with Section-Picker to this News-section.
In Firefox is it perfectly, but in IE8 are there line breaks after every word!

Is it a bug?

It will not be a problem of the section picker  cool

I have seen that behavior before (in normal content pages). It was a problem with a float:left and width settings in CSS.
Concentrate on your CSS.
Give us a link if you want someone to have a look.

Sorry, I am afraid that this will not work.

Very few people will setup a new website, install this template, create some news pages, create a section-picker page linking to the news page, test the whole bunch with different browsers to find your problem and start looking for a solution.

If your problem is online somewhere, give us the link. If it is not online, start playing with debugging tools and try to fix it using those tools. Look for float:left in the used stylesheets.

Hello Ruud,

This problem is also at the Blanc-Themplate by the WB.
This template does NOT have style sheets ...

Please create a new page with Section Picker, enter a news section and select the Blanc-template.

Now look at this new site with IE6, 7 or 8
Now you will see what mean.

Is it a bug of Section Picker?

Best regards,
Kleo

I have no idea what you are seeing.
Could you add some screenshots, and maybe tell us what it is you are seeing?

Maybe than I can tell you it is not a bug in Section Picker.

Section Picker does not work when accessing a section of the module 'Randombanner'.
Any solution?

Droplet ShowSection?
Now I see nothing

The direct call
Code:
$section_id = 166;

// query for section call
$query_sections = $database->query("SELECT section_id,module FROM ".TABLE_PREFIX."sections WHERE section_id = '$section_id' ");

// query to check if section exists and output with fitting mod view.php
if($query_sections->numRows() > 0) {
$section = $query_sections->fetchRow();
$section_id = $section['section_id'];
$module = $section['module'];
require(WB_PATH.'/modules/'.$module.'/view.php');
}
is an error: Undefined variable: gname

The problem is the Modul "Randombanner" ?

I do not want a new module
It is sufficient if  "Randombanner" works (as a module) +sect.pick
